PALMYRA RUINS

ALTAЇR IBN LA-AHAD
protagonist of ASSASSIN'S CREED.


Well here he is: my first Altaїr.
And damn, this was harder than I expected!
If you want to know it, read the following information or let it be!

I even don't know how I got into drawing this what you can see over there.
but I think it's because of his lascivious looks. So maybe a voice in my head kinda screamed to me "oooh let's draw a sexy topless lasciviously looking Altair!" _{(note: I only can image him in such a pose and no other Assassin)}
Drawing him was kinda fast, only his face took me a whole lot of time. but I'm content with it.
More difficult was finding a background!

Well… Altair did some sight seeing while drawing session:

I.
I drew a background where you could see the Jesus Minaret which is in Damascus _{(I rather wanted to draw The Minaret of Qaitbay but it was build in 1488 and this wasn't the time Altair has lived D: )} . After I fiinished the sketch of it I thought it looked kinda creepy and rubbed it out and begun to search for something new.
II.
This time I thought what about the Azm Palace? Quickly reasearch of some pictures and then started the sketch. but then it looked again strange and not 'sexy' enough for Altair. Rubbed out again…
And I got angry because I wanted to take some place as background from Damascus _{(I like this city a lot in the game)} and I wanted to incorporate some buildings so badly.
Then I remembered something:

The ruins of Palmyra!
Okay these aren't in Damascus but they are in Syria! And we all know Altair is a lot fluctuating between Damascus, Jerusalem and Acre. And there are all these ancient ruins in out in the kingdom so I decided to draw those as you can see.
Finally(!) a background that was good enough to deal with Altair's looks lol

but colouring was a desaster, too!
If you know my other works then you might know I prefer working traditional more than digital.
So I started painting with ink on it and it looked kinda horrible - maybe because it was so colourful and warm. All my other stuff is more greyish and a lot darker.
And before I got even more angry with it I took a break and started drawing Connor yesterday and after I finished his outlines today I went back to Altair looking at the outlines that were just crappy and overworked them, scanned both and started colouring in photoshop (borrowed my mum's graphic tablet). I worked more with layers and used a lot rubber tool and darken and lighten tool. It still has this traditional touch because the ink is still there.
but the result turned out well.

I really started to love the background. such a warm orange and the blue sky makes a good contrast to it.
and in the centre we have lasciviously looking Altair 8D
Aaaah I bet Malik would get nose bleed as fuck if he would know what Altair is doing while traveling in the kingdom!
